Dr Claire Smith Business Development Manager, ICTU

Dr Claire Smith is Operations and Business Development Manager for the UKCRC registered Imperial Clinical Trials Unit (ICTU) in the School of Public Health within the Faculty of Medicine at Imperial College.

After graduating in Biological Chemistry from the University of Kent, Claire completed a PhD in Protein Chemistry at Imperial College London.

Claire has 20 years’ experience in clinical research working on all aspects of commercial and academic trials across a range of therapeutic areas including cardiology, diabetes, rheumatology, renal medicine and surgery. She spent 7 years developing and managing the NIHR North West London Diabetes Local Research Network.

Claire has a key management role in the delivery of the operational aspects of the ICTU-Surgery study portfolio.

As Business Development Manager her focus is on developing and delivering strategies to increase the quantity and range of clinical trials in the ICTU portfolio with a particular focus on the existing and emerging therapeutic areas. This includes oversight of the ICTU Collaboration Process.
